This is a shiok sendiri post. Someday, maybe 10 years down the line, I can look back at this post and remember what an energetic superwoman I was.
I woke up at 8 am on Saturday. For the last one week, I had the luxury of sleeping as late and waking up as late as I fancy. I could take a nap in the hot afternoon for as many hours as I want.
But on Saturday, my holiday is officially over. However, I couldn’t get out of bed by 8 am. I ‘gulung’ up like a centipede kena abu and dozed off till 8.30 am.
By 9 am, I had to wallop a packet of nasi lemak and a mug of Nescafe while making sandwiches for my lunch.
By 9.15 am, I had to rush out of home to get to Aliran’s office for my course. Got into my car and the clock shows 9.27 am. None of my house 4 clocks show the right time! OMG, class starts at 9.30 am and they usually start on time. Reached Aliran at 9.37 am. By the time I sat down, I was just in time to to introduce myself to the lecturer. Today is Anil Netto’s session on ethics in journalism.
Ding dong ding dong….the course ended at 4.57 pm. Rushed out of Aliran’s office to go to church. Reached church around 5.05 pm. Hmmm…still early. So, I went up to Form One catechism class to help the other two teachers. There are 58 students in Form One so it is not easy for two teachers (and mind you, they are real professionally trained teacher and lecturer, not like me, cikgu celup) to handle the admin stuffs, the teaching, the singing etc.
Class finished at 5.45 pm. Ran down to give a hug to my little boy who just finished his pre-school catechism class. “Baby!!!!! Did you miss mommy????” And I was rewarded with, “Nope, I got papa mah….”
After all the hugging and kissing, hubby sent #3 and #5 home because I have OHP duty, again. (I was only informed the day before so it is too late for me to arrange a replacement duty) So, it was church from 6 pm till 7.15 pm. And golly, I didn’t even remember the Gospel and homily. *hangs head in shame* Here I was, discussing with the Form One students, “Sometimes….I didn’t hear God’s calling because…..” and I am the one who failed to hear anything.
Got home. Took a quick bath. Went out to dinner. After that, went to eldest sis’s house in Sungai Nibong to see my cute grandnephew from Melaka/KL who is returning to KL tomorrow. Also met my other grandniece. Wuah…the babies grew up like magic beans. One minute so tiny, next minute can turn over already and ang-koo-koo with me already.
But that’s not the end of the day yet. My little boy wanted to see my Bayan Baru niece’s sexy, white gingerbread man. So, we drove to Bayan Baru and stayed there for another hour.
Got home. Wah piang…. I actually enjoy a day like this. Oh yeah, I also forget the number of times of I have to sit and listen to my little boy telling me stories about the gingerbread man and sexy woman gingerbread man got married, *I have to hum wedding march song here* “And one day….the sexy woman gingerbread man got six babies…..The end…..Suddenly, it is an anniversary day. He brings her to a restaurant and a very nice restaurant and they go shopping, they buy shoes and because the gingerbread man is rich…..(I am typing this as he is telling me) he even buys a jacuzzi, even buy a laptop, suddenly, the day went wrong….The papa forget to give flower, suddenly the gingee woman, said never mind, I have too much flower in my garden, I can’t even put one more rose in my garden….”
Good lordy, the kind of abuse I have to go through Hahahahaha. *makes mental note to check where my six years old get storylines like the above*

This is a brainless, unintelligible post made on a Saturday afternoon. I cannot believe that I was actually excited last night with the prospect of making a takeaway lunch for myself.
I am attending the course on Citizen Journalism today and Sunday. From 9.30 am to 5.30 pm today and 10-6 pm tomorrow. The idea of walking out to the nearby market to have lunch is not so conducive. Driving home is possible but the thought of going into a burning, hot car is not. So, I thought of packing my own lunch so that I can sit down in the comfort of my classroom in Aliran office and enjoy The Gem of Life Episode 72 while blogging.
So, while the rest of the world are enjoying their Chinese New Year yee sang lunch or some fortune rhyming dishes at restaurants, I am munching on wholemeal bread, ham and cheese sandwiches. Lucky I get to make myself a mug of hot Ipoh White Coffee to comfort myself that my life is not so pathetic after all.
I baked some oats and blueberries muffin last night and shall have that as dessert. *sniff*
Like Melvin told me on Facebook, “You sendiri dig hole one” (to bury self) so I cannot complain ‘cos I asked for this.
Still…*sniff* Finish class jor, somemore have to run to church ‘cos if I don’t go this evening, tomorrow 6 am must wake up for the early morning service.
So, what did you eat on a sunny Saturday? *goes off to a corner to whine about my own miserable lunch*

“I want our people to take over the jobs now held by the immigrants,” he said at the launching of the Rural Action Plan at Ayer Kuning. (The Star)
What an easy solution to solve the mess they created. All those billions wasted in major projects like what-what corridor here and there. All those white elephants that serve no purpose.
Obviously, Pak Lah has not been there with the migrant workers. How those able-bodied, strong, hardworking Nepalese, Myanmarese, Bangladeshi toiled in hot sun, stinking rubbish, bad living conditions etc. Have Pak Lah seen the meals they can afford to eat? Like two pieces of chicken necks, a mountain of white rice with some curry and plain water? This is the kind of life our PM wants for the citizens of the country he leads.
The PM who probably admits to us that “Yeah, you have all been screwed. Stop whining already. It is your problem, not mine.”
Abdullah said people should not be choosy about jobs and hoped that factories would stop taking migrant workers.
Maybe the PM never really pay attention. Why have all those Ministries like the Human Resources and etc when he cannot figure out why factories prefer migrant workers?
Talking about our dear PM, I find it such a hypocrite for him to keep on demanding for the release of the two detainees who are terrorist suspects kept in Guantanamo Bay (source) while he has a whole lot of people detained under ISA over here in Malaysia. Don’t you think so? And let’s not even go into the issue how Kugan was murdered while being investigated in our local balai lokap. Dear PM, before you go international, asking for release of terrorist suspects, how about taking a walk in your own backyard first?

Thanks, Charlene for mailing the hardcopy of New York Times special supplement to me. I got it in the mail today and was so thrilled to actually touch and feel a copy of paper mailed to me all the way from US of A.
The size of the paper is different from our The Star. Sort of like tall, slender New Yorker hot chick versus fat, short, stubby Penang Ah Soh.
Anyway, I braved traffic jam and human sardines to attend the Penang Chinese New Year open house event hosted by the State Government. I got down from a junction, next to the stage. Hubby dropped me alone while he went on to find a parking. And the cilaka Rela members are si-peh-lansi. I just need to step over to get to the event but they demanded I take a longer route.
Celaka, so belagak for what lah. I am not a criminal lah. So, I had to walk to Jalan Pintal Tali and then go behind some dark, dark lorong alone. Niamah, so scary you know? ‘Cos I was taking my DSLR with my expensive lens, plus another camera and handphone and wallet. Lucky never kena snatch thief.
So, my mood is spoilt already lor. But then, I managed to squeeze into the crowd, braving ah peks whose t-shirts were wet from all their sweats and ear deafening loudspeakers to take some photos. But all I see are lots of ADUNS comfortably seated at their big-big tables. Doh…The places so crowded already, put what dining tables lah. Crowd around like us lah. Stand with us lah. Somemore use so big table for what lah.
And hor, the Rela members, si peh lansi. I just stepped a bit to the front to take picture of my Chief Minister only mah. No need to act like I am carrying a sniper likedat, can?
So I pun tulan and decided to go home lah. I lost all my moods to take photo. Actually, I don’t even know if they have any other program other than stand gawking at ADUNs and the likes. I wanted to take photo of dragon dance or something special like that but all I see are ADUNs seated down comfortably in their big big tables while the cilaka Rela members act like some bouncers likedat.
Having said all the above, I must praise our CM Lim Guan Eng for his fervour in his speeches. His speech is like pre-general election, so semangat and engaging. The people obviously adore him, from the way they responded to him.

This is for 2nd bro.
The foods (all I cook lah). Got spring rolls, chicken pie, curry chicken, tomyam beehoon, mushroom and brocolli and fried lor pak kou (white radish cake fried like char koay teow)
The booze. No one gets drunk, no werries.
The sisters. I like this pic. (in order of age, I am the one in red, the middle and shortest is my eldest sis and the other my second sis. Both of them are more than 10 years older than me but I am the BIGGEST, Wonder what my mom ate when she was pregnant with me?)
Everyone makan time. This CNY, we have three new additions in nephew and nieces and one new bride.
My nieces are still at their in-laws’ place in other states. So, I told my son, “You know hor…next time CNY, it is compulsory you all stay home with me and only visit your wife’s family after the third day. Just like Ah Ting and Ah Ching che-ches like that.” Must set down family rules early-early mah….
Just a section of the family. The only missing member from the Chan family is 2nd bro. I like how red we are.
(I hope no one recognize anyone in the photo. ‘Cos sometimes when I post family photos, my nephews or nieces’ friends or colleagues will go…..”Haiyorrr…that 5xmom is really your aunty ah? Yerrrr….in real life, is she like her blog? Does she scold you bad words ah?”)
So, hope next year 2nd bro will balik kampung to Penang and join us.

I took the photo with two camera filters, ok? Don’t look at the sun with your naked eyes if you don’t want to go blind. Don’t point your camera direct at the sun if you don’t want to go blind and your CCD rosak-ed, ok? And we used the water in the basin method to see the eclipse.
So, do you witness anything evil on thei solar eclipse of the first day of Chinese New Year? Is Satan giving you the PEACE sign? Or did Satan flashed his middle finger which says FUCUK U, world?
(more to follow after this)
Now on with the regular post. It is the first day of Chinese New Year and this rebellious Chinese family decided to spend it rotting at home, either half naked (for the males) or in old, tattered t-shirt and short for the female. The weather is super hot.
I woke up early, at 7.30 am. Hubby and I then went out, with intention to have nasi kandar. Of course, both of us in our old clothes. We passed by the LWE hospital and decided to ‘pai nien’ with his sis. Met my hairdresser who was there to visit her MIL. Hospital car park is so deserted. Passed by the geriatric ward and some old woman was waving at me. I just ignored it ‘cos it is not proper to visitors to play Florence Nightingale, ok? Anyway, sis-in-law is discharging today.
After some nice nasi kandar in Jelutong, we went to Tesco. Fuyoh, all the veges are fresh and there are no crazy crowds to jostle with me. I could buy the foodstuffs in peace. Got home and I prepare a sujee cake for baking tonight, baked suji cookie and a batch of fantalicious cupcakes with fresh blueberries, cherries and chocolate chips (3 diff flavours, not all in one). Gave some for my Indian neighbour.
Then, I prepared lunch. My late mother will tell me, Choy….where got people eat ‘moi’ for sin chia? After all the grills and meats yesterday, I hanker for some boat people congee. It is basically a porridge cooked with ‘cha hu’ a typed of dried fish, peanuts, some salted chicken I had preserved for a few days and century eggs. Yummm…
After that, I got sleepy and went into my aircond bedroom to sleep. Now, this is the main part of my post. You still reading ah?
I only took 2 hours nap and I dreamt:
PKR election campaign booth, Anwar was there and I got down to join them;
My kid vomitted in the car, nasty ones;
I cannot find my car in the carpark and I had to ask a woman’s actor from HK where it is.;
*(you think I got the weirdest dream yet?)
I attended mass and I was angry with someone and I stood up and scolded the person! (if you are Catholic, you will faint at the thought);
And I was still dreaming with all the plots and colours and smells when I heard someone whispered…..
“Mommy…..the moon blocked the sun already. You want to see?”
And that’s why the solar eclipse is evil because it woke me and now, I have no conclusions to all my dreams. Lucky I have studied some partial psychology, and I know dreams interpretations. My dreams simply says…..
My dreams says…..Stop working so hard, stop wondering so hard, stop taking politics so seriously, stop feeling like a constipated Catholic, have a chocolate cake and go change into your new year’s clothes and go pai nien!
**It is drizzling at 6 pm on the partial solar eclipse evening.

God of Prosperity with my handsome boy.
Instead of steamboat, we have grill seafoods, sausages and meats.
Eldest son made the sushi.
Second son made the platter of cheese, parma ham and salami.
Third son arrange the chocolate fondue.
Fifth son eats.
After saying grace, thanking God for a blessed Rat year, praying for a bountiful Ox year, we makan. Then, we yam seng with a bottle of Shiraz Cabernet, Long Island Iced Tea, Tequila and Vodka shots.
But you know what? Nothing beats F&N Orange and Sarsi as thirst quencher.
Instead of steamboat for Chinese New Year’s eve, we have chocolate fondue with fruits.
Now, I am going to my sister’s house to play fireworks. Oh ya, if you are looking for any hardcore firecrackers and rockets, try the stall outside Bali Bali in Farlim.
They have 9 ft long red firecrackers too. However, we can only afford pop-pop firecrakers. RM1 per box.
I will try to visit all your blogs to drop a wish but I am too drunk to do so now. Ta ta! Xin nien kuai le (happy new year).
Oh ya, they say that there is an eclipse of the sun tomorrow, which is the first day of Chinese New Year. Over in Malaysia, we will be experiencing a red sky from 4.30 pm to 7 pm. The Indian fengshui master said not to swim, sleep or have sex. You hear?

You can feel the Chinese New Year festive mood over here in Penang. Penangites are more superstitious and more prayerful, I think. This afternoon, when I was passing the residential areas, many homes are putting foods on a table and offering to their ancestors. So, I bet those who practice ancestors worshipping are enjoying their jiu hoor char, too tor thng, kiam chye ark, hoo peow th’ng and the seng lay right now.
Initially, I was supposed to cook for my in-laws but unfortunately, my eldest-sis-in-law, the second commander-in-chief after my (late) parents-in-law fell sick (again) and is warded at the hospital now. So, we decided to cancel the plan.
That leaves me soooooooo free. Tomorrow, for my own family reunion dinner, all six of us, we are going to make sushi, have cheese and parma ham and grill some seafoods and steak plus chocolate fondue as dessert. We are going to be anti-Chinese New Year and stay away from the regular Chinese New Year foods. But if you are looking for Chinese New Year reunion dinner menu, you can find them on my food blog along with recipes.
The weather is so hot these few nights and my living room is like a heated room. That makes it too hot to bother baking cookies or sugee cake.
It is only one day to Chinese New Year and I haven’t bought new clothes for three more kids. Only my eldest son and hubby have found our signature red shirts. I am going to wear the one I bought for Christmas. That means, three more kids need new clothes. Been to almost every shopping mall and sports shops here in Penang and yet, cannot find a shade or size they want. Never mind, recyle sounds like a good idea.
So, all you folks out there who are busy preparing for Chinese New Year, envy me please! I am sooooo free!!!!! I am cooking for my siblings side on the second day of Chinese New Year so I do not have to sweat until then. I have watched The Gem Of Life up to Episode 70 today. Want spoiler? Ho Fung sei jor due to heart attack. He left his will that Jessica, Constance and Terrence must work together. Jessica’s mother kena Alzheimer. Actually, looking at where the story is heading, this is a rather lousy story lah. I hate bad endings. I spent two and half days of my life watching and all I get are divorces, deaths, unrequited love, pthooi! Lucky I don’t just sit there rotting on the couch watching but doing many things at the same time.

I confess I was very, very reluctant to go for the prayer vigil in church because I was so tired, hot, harassed and I think I smell of fried eggs (as I do not have time to bath after preparing dinner). Moreover, the traffic on a Friday evening is horrible and all I want is to stay at home. But I dragged myself there because what good is it to talk about my faith when I cannot take the little effort to go the extra three miles to church.
When I reached there, I saw the Bishop and I go, ‘oh…..oh….habis lah…long lecture nanti..’ However, the evening turned to be most enlightening to me. Of course, it is rather tiring to sit on a plastic chair for two and a half hours. Of course, sometime things can get really technical, historical and philosophical…. (aka spelt in one word B O R I N G).
Yet, I can feel the awesomeness of having so many religious leaders from so many faiths, sitting together in one hall, all talking about peace. This is the first time I have been to an interfaith event. Those present tonight are from the different faiths like Sikhism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Brahmakumari and Christianity.
I sat through two and half hours of talks and prayers and I learnt things like :
1) A Muslim’s explanation on the land belonging to the Palestinians which was taken by the Israelites who are Jews.
2) Anilnetto’s very factual and illustrative explanation on the why, who, when of the Gaza strip and the fate of those living there. Anil’s presentation made me realised the double standards the world, in particular, the US has. If I heard correctly, Israel has 200 nuclear bombs in their country. Yet, USA pretended not to see it as an issue. However, other countries aren’t allowed to have their nuclear bombs.
3) Anil explained how densely populated the area is and why so many injured. He provided all the facts like population, areas belong to the Palestians and how Israelites Jews have driven out a lot of people.
4) I learnt about Sikhism, Hinduism and Brahmakumari. It is so awesome to Ohm Santhi and Omithofood along with their religious leaders. I subconsciously can reply to the greetings from the Muslim leader too. After all, I have heard the azan so many times a day.
5) The little girl from the Sikhism group is so adorable with her organ and singing.
I can so relate with all the different faiths. Never mind that their way of worshipping is different, we are all just the same.
I do not know if our dear friends from SB were in the hall. We have a candle light vigil as well. I guess they would be there to keep an eye so that we little chewren do not play with fire. I hope our peace reached their hearts as well. Peace be with you, SB friends! @_@ And may the Divine hear the cries of His people and calm the hearts of those at war.
